The Great Commission
Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I commanded you. Behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)
The world is a big place. When Jesus gave the Great Commission (see Matthew 28:18-20, quoted above), he was speaking to all of his disciples, and each person (each follower of Christ) has a role to play. Not all are preachers, but all can help. Not all have the same gifts, but all are called to serve. It really does not matter what your gift or gifts are, God has allotted to each according to his will (see Ephesians 4:7). What matters is that we use our gifts in his service. The goal is discipleship (which is more than merely evangelism). The goal is to make followers of Christ, and when we think of what it really means to follow Christ, in all it's manners and respects, well, that's a big task!
When we do use our gifts, it brings fulfillment. What are your gifts? There is a very high likelihood that you have more than one. However, God may have emphasized one in your life, so that you can serve the body. Ask God what your gift is, and ask him to show you how he wants you to use that. He will delight to do just that. Some gifts also are to considered more desirable, indicating that God's gifts are not merely a "chance deal" but can be born of desire. Do you have a desire to function using a particular gift? What are those gifts that you desire?
